New Club for Novices (but all welcome) : Starts on Tuesday 7th September, 2010 at the bridge centre, 2pm to 5pm. Run by Sam Malkani, phone Sam for more info on 01292 312601

ABU: An open day at the Ayrshire Bridge Centre is to be held on Saturday 11th September. Visitors can try ther hand, and there will be a demonstration of playing on-line bridge (Bridge Base Online - BBO).

The Calendar for 2010-2011 has been published.

A trial run of Sunday Bridge will start on 10-Oct.

Kyle:  The 2010-11 Calendar has been published.

Kyle is having an open night on Friday 17th September, when visitors are warmly invited to come along and try the club, with or without a partner.

Stevenston: Sadly, with falling numbers, the club is to de-affiliate from the ABU. Bridge will contine to be played on a Friday evening.

Winter Sundays

Starting Sunday 10-Oct at 2pm., for a trial period of 4 Sundays, there will be a hosted duplicate session (MP Scoring) at the Ayrshire Bridge Centre.

Entry fee £2.50

For the trial period, Eddie McGeough will direct, and act as host. This means you can decide at the last minute on a dreich Sunday to go along and get a game.

Bridgemates to be used for scoring. (It is hoped that the ABU will be able to provide 'duplimated' boards, in order that a copy of the hands may be distributed at the end of the afternoon).

Prizes to be offered for the Winning Pair and the Best Pair with a rank below Scottish Master; if sufficient numbers, there will also be an award for the pair closest to 50%.

 

After a successful trial period, Sunday Bridge to continue until Spring, with a rota of Director-Hosts, unless there is a District/National event organised for the same time. (9 such events on current calendar).

 

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before play starts.

Congratulations to Pat Smith & Gordon Smith winners of the 18th and last round of the 2010 Pollok-Williamson Summer Cup with 63.33%  

Stuart McCreadie & Elma Munro 2nd with 62.73%.
 
Bryan McGuire & Roy Henderson 3rd with 61.14%.
 
 
 
Congratulations to David Wiseman winning the PW Championship with an average of 62.83 just ahead of Yvonne Wiseman. with 60.35 for 12 best scores. 
 
Congratulations to Bryan McGuire & Roy Henderson winning the Handicap race, with a most impressive last round.
 
 
A big thank-you to Rita & Campbell Stuart for preparing the boards, Ian Burn for Directing,
Jim Tudor & Eddie McGeough for uploading the results and the standings each week, sponsors
Pollok-Williamson, but most of all to everyone who took part.
We look forward to seeing you all next year with a revised handicap system.

Runners-up the team of Richard Hyde, Alistair Macdonald, Sheila Macdonald, Maida Grant.

Iain Bannatyne, Anne Bannatyne, Ken Ling, Thelma Ling won the Bronze Award, and Christine Gray, Len Gray, Willie Taylor, Issy Hyman won the Silver Team Award.

Kate & Sam Malkani  Ayrshire Congress 2010 Swiss Pairs Winners

 

Congratulations to Kate & Sam Malkani on winning the Swiss Pairs at the first Ayrshire Congress for 14 years. Yvonne & David Wiseman runners-up.

Anne McLean & Isobel Hollingsworth won the Bronze Award, while David & Ira Clement won the Silver Award. Pairs Results

National competitions news

Maureen Murray and Fiona Paton were 2nd in the SBU Easter Pairs.

Congratulations to Frances Murphy on keeping an Ayrshire hold on the Harrison Cup. Alex O'Hara was 6th in the Shenkin.

John Dick and Gordon Smith were 2nd in the Spence Cup (Inter-District Pairs).

Hazel Penman & Mary Kerr were the highest placed Ayrshire pair in the SBU Hugh Kelsey Simultaneous Pairs and have been awarded the Inspiration Cup.

David & Yvonne Wiseman were 3rd in the SBU Swiss Pairs held at Ayr Racecourse on 16th May. Nancy Morgan and Irene Sword collected a prize in the Silver Category, and Alex O'Hara with Jacqui McCrindle were 3rd in the Bronze category.

Congratulations to Stuart McCreadie & his team (John Dick, Gordon Smith & Sam Malkani) on winning the Scottish Plate.

Sandra & Yvonne Wiseman were 3rd in the SBU Women's Pairs in Perth on Saturday the 24th April.

Sam Malkani & Gordon Smith were 5th, just ahead of David & Yvonne Wiseman in the SBU National Pairs in Stirling on Sunday 25th April.

Fiona Abbott & Pauline Phillipps were 1st in the local heat of the BGB Simultaneous Pairs at ABC on Wed. 14.Apr. Thanks to Sandra Wiseman for making up the boards, and David Wiseman for scoring. (Results).

Congratulations to David & Ira Clement on winning the Jesner Trophy (results) and to  K Horn & I Hollingsworth . (Winners of the local heat).finishing 5th overall

Janice Thomson & Eddie McGeough finished 2nd in the Mixed Swiss Pairs.

John Stevenson, Frances Murphy, Sam Malkani, Kate Malkani were 6th in the Mixed Swiss Teams.

Congratulations to John Stevenson, Frances Murphy, Fiona Abbott, and Angela Knox on winning the National Swiss Teams at Ayrshire Bridge Centre on Sunday 29th November.
